Raptors are relatives of Deinonychus. They lived during the Late Cretaceous period, from 83 to 70 million years ago. The hip height of a Velociraptor was only 0.5 meters, and it weighed just 15 kilograms.
However, its body was relatively long, around 2 meters. Such a size seems rather small even today, let alone in the age of dinosaurs! Despite its small size, the Velociraptor was a carnivorous dinosaur. It had sickle - like claws on its second toe, which it could use to hunt and tear apart its prey.
In addition, the Velociraptor had sharp teeth. There were 26 - 28 teeth in its mouth. These teeth were like a hacksaw and could easily rip the bodies of its prey. The Velociraptor was agile and could easily grasp things.
