Giant Themed Elephant Stage Sculpture Case: 2025 Xishuangbanna International EDM Festival (BEJF)

Client: Organizing Team of Banna Electric Jumbo Festival (BEJF 2025), the iconic Xishuangbanna International Electronic Music Festival held in Yunnan, China.

Xishuangbanna is famous for Dai ethnic culture, rainforest landscapes, and sacred elephant totems deeply rooted in local minority traditions. For the 2025 grand BEJF electronic music carnival, the client planned a jaw-dropping centerpiece stage installation that blends local Dai elephant cultural symbols with futuristic EDM stage design, to match the festival’s core slogan: Sacred elephant drumbeats resonating with heavy bass.

All three oversized elephant scenic sculptures featured on the main festival stage were fully custom-designed, sculpted, reinforced, painted and delivered by YesDino. These massive half-body and giant elephant head props served as the core visual anchor of the whole outdoor stage, perfectly merging tropical Dai cultural aesthetics with high-energy electronic music atmosphere.

The festival gathered world-famous Top 100 DJs including Yellow Claw, Ummet Ozcan, Quintino and Jay Hardway, attracting tens of thousands of global EDM fans for a cross-cultural audio-visual carnival. To perfectly fit the layered truss stage structure and highlight Xishuangbanna Dai ethnic sacred elephant culture, we customized three segmented giant elephant sculptures with unique structural designs (not full-body elephant models):

1. 1 × 16m Oversized Giant Elephant Head Sculpture (Central Stage Core Landmark)
Positioned at the top center of the main stage circular clock frame, this towering elephant head acts as the visual focal point for the entire venue. It features traditional Dai golden decorative patterns on the forehead and trunk, lifelike textured elephant skin, and massive extended white tusks that dominate the upper stage skyline. The hollow trunk is pre-reserved for smoke spray special effects to coordinate with stage lighting.
2. 2 × 10m Tall Half-Body Elephant Sculptures (Symmetric Stage Side Decorations)
A pair of matching half-body elephant statues symmetrically placed on the left and right sides below the central giant elephant head. Each elephant wears custom printed Dai ethnic blue-purple patterned silk cloaks with golden trim, an iconic element of Xishuangbanna local elephant culture. Their upward-curving trunks are built with built-in flame jet equipment, which spouts synchronized fire bursts during DJ drops to amplify the explosive EDM atmosphere.

Ultra-Large Size Manufacturing & Heavy Post-Production Workload
The 16m elephant head and two 10m half-body elephants are oversized non-standard scenic props, far beyond the dimensions of regular decorative statues.
  • After segmented fiberglass and reinforced internal frame molding, every joint seam between sculpture sections required manual filling, sanding, and seamless repairing to eliminate assembly gaps.
  • Multi-layer weather-resistant exterior paint was applied, including gradient grey elephant skin base coats, hand-painted golden Dai totem details, and color correction layers designed to render vivid textures under intense RGB stage lighting and outdoor daylight. The seam repair and full painting process consumed massive manual labor hours to guarantee a flawless lifelike surface finish.

Reinforced Anti-Wind Outdoor Stage Structural Design
Since the sculptures would be suspended high on an open-air metal truss stage in Xishuangbanna’s humid, windy outdoor environment, we upgraded the internal support frames with thick galvanized steel load-bearing skeletons. Each sculpture section was pre-installed with professional hoisting connection points, load testing completed in our factory before shipment to ensure safe high-altitude suspension for long-duration festival use.

Integrated Special Effect Hardware Pre-Installation
During factory production, we reserved internal pipelines and wiring channels for smoke generators in the central elephant trunk, plus flame jet system mounts inside the trunks of the two side half-body elephants. All special effect circuits were pre-wired and insulated, allowing seamless sync control with the venue’s stage lighting, fire and smoke console after on-site installation.

Modular Split Design for Transport & Hoisting
Each giant elephant sculpture was split into multiple lightweight transportable modules to fit standard shipping containers. After delivery to the festival venue, professional rigging crews spent 4 consecutive days completing high-altitude hoisting, module assembly, truss fixation, and structural calibration due to the extreme weight and height of the props.
