Raptors and Deinonychus share a close kinship, both hailing from the Late Cretaceous era, some 83 to 70 million years ago. Standing at a mere 0.5 meters at the hip and tipping the scales at just 15 kilograms, the Velociraptor might seem diminutive. But its body stretched an impressive 2 meters in length. Even by modern standards, that's a small frame, and in the age of dinosaurs, it was positively tiny!
Don't let its size fool you, though. The Velociraptor was a fearsome carnivore. Its most distinctive feature? A sickle - shaped claw on its second toe, a deadly weapon it used to hunt and eviscerate its prey. And then there were its teeth—26 to 28 of them, serrated like a hacksaw, perfect for ripping through flesh. Agile and dexterous, the Velociraptor could snatch up its quarry with ease, making it a formidable predator in its prehistoric world.
